| "Van Sama!" was created to honor the realtionship between Van Slanzar de Fanel and Merle of, the anime/manga Tenkuu no Escaflowne. The name comes from the ever so many times you hear Merle scream for "Van Sama!" I find it quite suitible. The site was developed April 27, 2006 and is a part of Mushroom Samba and Akane. | Tenkuu no Escaflowne is a series based on the exploits of a young girl Named Hitomi who is somehow transported to a strange new world called Gaia. There she meets new friends (and enemies) and struggles along side Van, Merle, Allen, and others to save this new world. |
| Van and Merle have a relationship like now other. Merle is one of the few of her kind left, and was taken under Van's wing. Merle would give her life for Van, and even on an occassion protects him from being defeated. She often cries out for him when he is gone and is constantly thinking of him and worried about him. When Hitomi arrives Merle is nothing short of jealous. She eventually warms up to her and allows her to become close to Van. Van cares for Merle like family. He even states "She's just about the only family I've got left." |
